I accepted a job at USC Viterbi College of Engineering as an IT Web and Application Developer.

To my colleagues, I sincerely appreciate having had the opportunity to work with you and have enjoyed my time here at the UCR Libraries.

Thank you for the support, guidance, love, and encouragement you have provided me during my 15 years here. Even though I will miss my colleagues and the Libraries, I am looking forward to the challenges of my position and to starting a new phase in my career.

It was my first real mobile website, and I learned a lot in the process. Sometimes creating a simple-looking website is a lot harder than it seems!

There’s so many things you need to account for, like the sizes of your buttons and action items must accommodate tapping fingers, and the various differences between mobile devices.

I was really passionate about this project because I know how much time I spend on my phone — not talking, but getting work done among other things. There are many times when I get frustrated when I can’t do a simple action on the phone.

The project was well-received and is continually being improved. You can test it out on your mobile smartphone at http://m.library.ucr.edu.

I was given full control over design and content, and over a few months, this was the result. The site has it’s own mini search engine, staff profiles, internal mailing list (interfaces with Mailman), and a whole lot of new content.
