For the past few months, I’ve been working on creating a mobile web app for the UCR Libraries. It was my first real mobile website, and I learned a lot in the process. Sometimes creating a simple-looking website is a lot harder than it seems!
There’s so many things you need to account for, like the sizes of your buttons and action items must accommodate tapping fingers, and the various differences between mobile devices.
I was really passionate about this project because I know how much time I spend on my phone — not talking, but getting work done among other things. There are many times when I get frustrated when I can’t do a simple action on the phone.
The project was well-received and is continually being improved. You can test it out on your mobile smartphone at http://m.library.ucr.edu.
