GiveWaterLA.org (now defunct) was a website used to promote the first Twestival LA event on February 12th, 2009. Twestival LA was a charity event that started on Twitter.com.
Over 200 cities around the world held Twestivals, bringing together the Twitter community for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity:water.

Less than two weeks before the event, I was contacted by the volunteer Twestival LA event coordinator. After two meetings of planning day and night for the event, we finally started to get a line up. A website was needed to get people interested in the event, so I came up with this in less than 24 hours.
The poster was created by Ben Morrison, and website layout and some of the graphics were created by me. Twestival logos were created by the great people of Twestival. I was also responsible for updating the event blog. We also had many other wonderful volunteers who helped gather sponsors, find a venue, public relations, and everything it takes to put a big event together.
I had the opportunity of working with some amazing and dedicated volunteers on this event. Social media proved to be a very powerful tool. Twestival LA event attracted over 400 people, including Hollywood and Internet celebrities. We were able to raise close to $20,000 for charity:water, coming only second after New York.
In April 2009, Scott Harrison, charity:water’s founder, and Amanda Rose, founder of the Global Twestival, traveled to Ethiopia and helped drill the first Twestival wells. See the photos and videos here.
